Suzanne Petersen writes her songs that's all there when.  Out they come -- in 

quite varied forms, given unity by her subtle but expressive singing style and by the lyrics themselves, derived from a life which has had its ups and downs.

As a singer and capable pianist, Suzanne often performs solo, but she is 

most happy playing with friends. 

 Overall, the feeling is light, but energetic. The experience and professionalism of her ensembles is obvious.  

Suzanne recorded songs with Tim Gaze (Morning Of The Earth) for another Australian surf movie Band On The Run.  An introduction to blues music occurred when she met Dutch Tilders in Sydney in the 80’s and toured with his RnB6 band.  She is an award-winning songwriter and has got better than good recognition with three original albums in the Australian Radio Blues and Roots charts.  “I Foresaw This Trouble” 2015 “So Many Nights” 2017 2018 and “Our Street” 2020.  Suzanne was a featured artist with her band at Moomba and Eltham Jazz Festival 2017.  Suzanne will be independently releasing some new songs on streaming services and on her website

The Skabhangers and XocNeb are coming to the Edinburgh Castle Hotel on Saturday August 6! The Skabhangers draw heavily on the original sounds of Jamaican 'First wave' ska sound of the 1960s, with song lyrics that reflect modern life in Melbourne and burning instrumentals. XocNeb bring a fusion of modern jazz, funk and r'n'b beats to create grooves with their own aura.

The acts wish to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land this show takes place on, and pay respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We also wish to acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.'

The intergalactic space trolls have emerged from their slumber under the bridges of titan to lay siege to the Edinburgh castle. In the vanguard is Van burg riding the magical white unicorn of Europa. Callum Riordan writes happy sad songs. Songs about experiences, whether they’ve been good or bad, from childhood through to his limited but progressing years in adulthood. As a folk musician Riordan pays particular attention to lyricism, with the guitar there to accompany the story. Callum's musical style has been influenced by the likes of Ben Howard, Joni Mitchell, and Frightened Rabbit.

Anna is a singer-songwriter originally from Belfast, Ireland and has recently moved out to Melbourne at the end of 2021. Her contemporary folky style comes from her background of traditional Irish music having been brought up by two singers who she has performed with since her early teens, along with her influences of Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell and Carole King. During school she was part of the electro-pop band Go Wolf during which time they supported The 1975, Bastille and The Killers to name their biggest shows. Anna began performing solo at university in Aberdeen, Scotland and released her first solo EP Sparks in 2016. After moving to Glasgow she built up her band of drums, bass, fiddle, cello and trombone to accompany her songs and was building up momentum playing in several venues across the city when lockdown hit in March 2020. She taught herself how to use home recording equipment as many musicians did during this time and released her single Breathe, which made it to the semi-finals of the International Song Writing Competition 2020. Anna went on to record and release her second EP All Part of It, this time featuring the full band, in April 2021. Anna is currently exploring and working in Australia while writing her next batch of songs, as well as expanding her repertoire of traditional Irish songs.

From Edinburgh, Scotland, singer-songwriter Georgia Gordon is delighted to be back at The Edinburgh Castle after a crazy year.

After a small break, in 2019 she came back with a bang with the title track from her latest EP ‘New York’s Army’ announced as single of the week on BBC Radio Scotland.

Oscar LaDell, 23, was born in the US and raised in Purakaunui, Dunedin. A second-generation musician, Oscar started out playing standards in bars around Dunedin, featuring songs by Muddy Waters, BB King and Guitar Slim. Over the years, funk, rock, soul, R&B and more have found their way into Oscar’s music. Now based in Naarm, Oscar brings a show full of blues with soul.

DKOU is the new project of Dylan Knur, violinist of Parkville, Paul Reid and Grand Baxter. One Spirit Africa is an Afro-fusion band emerging in the African and Western instrumentation, engaging, empowering and uplifting our ancestral spiritual legacies and transforming our beautiful natures into a peaceful realm of life through music and dance.

Hugh McGinlay is a singer songwriter and author based in Australia.

As a musician, he is known for his poetic lyrics and varied styles. A reputation that has increased with his long term collaboration with the Recessive Genes, made up of Adam Chiodo (Laughing Sam’s Dice), Phil Cadman (Fine Motor Skills, Desperately Not Yoko) and Ryan Vermeulen (Fine Motor Skills, Desperately Not Yoko).

Hugh has four albums out: Skeleton Leaves (2019 - with the Recessive Genes), Bliss (2015 - with the Recessive Genes) Elsewhere (2009) and Second Guess (2006) available on itunes (see link at the bottom of the page). Over the years he has toured extensively around the globe and has performed with the likes of Robyn Hitchcock, the Proclaimers, Billy Bragg and Badly Drawn Boy.

The single, I'll be fine was released by Hugh McGinlay and the Recessive Genes in October 2017.

As an author, Hugh is known for the novels Jinx and Pachyderm, the first two in a series about a hard living milliner called Catherine, who lives in Brunswick and solves crimes in her spare time. With

Pachyderm was long listed for the Ned Kelly awards 2018. Which in Australian crime fiction terms means he was nominated for an Oscar.

These books are currently out of print, as Threekookaburras Publishing house are no longer in business. Fear not folks, in August 2020 Hugh signed with Clan Destine Publishing house and both books, as well as a third novel Bodysurfing will be available in 2021.

Hugh is often erroneously credited with works of theology, which were written by his father, who was called Hugh McGinlay long before he was.

The ensemble perform mostly original material but their sets are peppered with creative interpretations of well known pop music, from the likes of The Beatles, Radiohead, and Bjork amongst others.

Dylan is a Melbourne based songwriter, storyteller and producer offering a unique style of folk, pop, and soul. Likened to artists such as Ed Sheeran, John Mayer and Allen Stone, Dylan combines silky falsetto and heartfelt lyrics, weaving memorable melodies that you'll find yourself humming for days.
Dylan has performed all over the United States and Australia since 2012, and has played notable festivals such as Byron Bay Blues Festival and Splendour in the Grass. He has been awarded a scholarship by the Alex Legg Memorial Foundation, was nominated as best male vocalist in the Dolphin music awards, and recently won the Moorambilla Voices remix competition for which Founder Michelle Leonard said his song “reminded me that life’s good, and we will get through the constant feeling of unease”.

Israeli musician Nir Tsfaty has recently moved to Melbourne, introducing to the Australian
audience, music from his wide creative work.

Nir has been an active musician for the past decade - composer, songwriter, singer and multi-
instrumentalist, acting as a solo artist and as a leader of the two Alternative Rock / Pop bands
Noria and Bell Always.

During this time he has released, together with his bands, three studio albums and played dozens
of shows across Israel, including InDnegev Festival and the iconic stage of Barby Tel Aviv.

Melbourne's Tony Trimboli has developed a distinct songwriting style that juxtaposes dry wit and sarcasm with hypnotic melodies that linger long after listening. A master of the knowing wink, his songs twist the simple grandeur of 1960s pop with the often absurd anxieties of modern life.

His studio sound comprises the use of seemingly every tangible instrument at hand and carries echoes of classic influences like Syd Barrett, Nazz and Brian Wilson, with a sharp melodic sensibility that frequently carries the music into surprising directions. Oblique chord changes and guitar work abound, along with candid observations delivered with the frayed eloquence of Trimboli's voice.

The first singles from his upcoming album allude to a diverse and fey collection of kaleidoscopic rock and roll songs, with enough gear changes to keep listeners enchanted.

Ensemble Felicidade is a Latin Jazz guitar duo that performs music from the Brazilian and Latin
American musical traditions. Comprised of acoustic guitar and upright bass, the group features lush
arrangements and lively renditions of South American classics in an intimate and exciting

The premise is simple - sink beers or your drink of choice in the afternoon sun, or bring your instrument and step to the plate to swing with the band. 4-6 in the beer garden featuring a rotating roster of bands every week.

Tide (Alcides Neto) is a Brazilian guitarist, percussionist and vocalist based in Melbourne. Genres: Traditional and contemporary Brazilian folk music.Inspired by folk music from his home country, Tide aims to present his perspective of Brazilian music, mixing traditional styles with experimental sounds from percussive instruments to animal calls. Tide is noted by his distinctive percussive style of playing guitar, melding fingerstyle and articulate strumming techniques to achieve a dynamic, delicate and varied sound. The result is an organic and authentic style.Tide currently works as a full-time musician performing in different formats as act Tide across Melbourne venues, he also is currently recording his debut album, due for release in the second half 2021.

Izzy Hollingdale is a Melbourne-based singer songwriter who loves to share her voice
through the performance of original compositions. Accompanying herself on keyboard, Izzy
gives a raw, honest and relatable performance. Izzy has been performing around Melbourne
since the easing of restrictions in 2021 and is a performer on the rise. Her songs have a
range of inspiration, from heartbreakers to lockdowns and the revolutionary phenomenon
of embracing the inner grandma by going to bed at 9pm. Her style is reminiscent of Missy
Higgins and London Grammar with her sets including relatable originals and a wide range of
covers performed in her own style.

Team Love have been breaking and melting the hearts of all who hear them, with music that echoes the country greats with a contemporary spin.

This is Team Love's first show since March and since the release of the self-titled debut album, which was recently the feature album on ABC country.

An outgrowth of an exciting and organic duo - ‘Cloudhead’ captures the spontaneous and open-listening approach of Zeb Vescio (guitar, composition) and Matt Steele (piano, composition) bolstered with the fabulous rhythm section of Robbie Finch (bass) and Lewis Pierre-Humbert (drums).
