Roman Xavier is a Melbourne based artist and is best described as a curious soul, focussed on finding new ways of moulding sound as a producer and presenting stories of normativity as a songwriter. Having released his debut album ‘PreDelay’ in 2020 and produced The Thrips’ dadaist album ‘Trash Mountain Bin Day’ in 2021, he's seemingly jumped to a new style of performing. This is after playing solo acoustic sets around Hawthorn and Melbourne's north for the past few years.
Now electric, washed in reverb and focused on idiosyncratic expression, he’s setting himself apart from the tropes of acoustic performances. He’s only opened up more as a performer and has greater conviction in trying new styles and writing even more confrontingly vivid lyrics in his growing body of originals. Through his warbling use of wammy bar, strong sultry voice and at times unstable rhythms and dynamics, his solo shows are sure to demand attention and evoke curiosity.
