Growing up in Melbourne’s quiet outer suburbs, Georgia Knight cut her teeth playing through Melbourne’s indie circuit whilst she was studying sculpture at uni; lying that she could play bass in order to get into the scene. Her writing on The Hot Springs’ self titled EP was described by podcast Australian Jams as ‘landscape-like’ and reminiscent of 90s alt rock band The Church, whereas her emerging solo sound delves deeper into Lynchian imagery of roadside diners, vast countryside and mutated dreams of love and escape.
Her voice places the listener in timeless sonic landscapes championed by the likes of The Cowboy Junkies, Chris Isaac, The Go Betweens and Patti Smith, whilst her writing remains lodged in old-fashioned fiction and poetry. Listen to her on the drive up to Hanging Rock.
