BEN MASTWYK w/ LISA CRAWLEY

Free, beer garden

When a borrowed guitar and a southern American road trip spawned flood of songwriting, Melbourne Country artist Ben Mastwyk's debut album was born. Traversing the Appalachian Mountains and the honky tonks of Nashville "Mornin Evenin" received strong reviews and a nomination for The Age's Best Country Album. Further US travels saw Mastwyk play Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Cafe and pen another round of travelling songs. As a writer, vocalist and banjo player Mastwyk has been integral to numerous musical projects from touring and recording in Australia and the US with Jemma Rowlands, to producing a tribute to his musical hero George Jones. 2017 sees Mastwyk embark on an Australasian tour and put the finishing touches on his followup album.

"The songs are slow and steady, rich with meaning and truth. This is good stuff, real and raw, just as true country music should be”. Samuel J. FellRhythms Magazine

“Straight-up country from the Hank Williams school via Townes Van Zandt and Willie Nelson. Mastwyk’s voice has a rich imperfection reminiscent of Gram Parsons." Unpaved

“If you like your whiskey neat and your country classic then Mornin Evenin is for you. The debut album from Ben Mastwyk conjures up the spirits of Conway Twitty and George Jones through a set of well told stories of the heart.”  Tracy McNeil

Mastwyk’s beautifully crafted debut album is full of gems, the songs gently pushes and pulls you all the way from Texas to Melbourne’s inner north in one long dance.” Justin Bernasconi
