Hot on the heels of the bustling Sydney alt country and roots scene
country and roots scene emerges a new, and unique songwriter from the bowels of the inner west. With a guitar in his hand, and a story to share, Kev Walsh’s music oscillates between gritty, ramblin’ tales of the town and a heartfelt crooning of the soul. On stage, he projects a witty, charismatic charm, and heartfelt, nostalgic lyrics that act as an invitation to the audience to delve deeper into the rabbit hole.
Cutting his teeth on the hallowed ground of Newtown’s pub circuit, the Sydney born songwriter attributes his sound to his youth, growing up in an Irish household, listening to the emotional echoes of the traditional folk singers. However, his song writing leans towards the 1970’s folk and Americana entertainers whose words he had a strong connection with. This combination allows his set to pass seamlessly through foot stomping drinking songs, to thoughtful ballads of love and loss.
